Daily Practice:

Prayer (5 minutes):  Thank God for a fresh start. Thank Him for the blessings you’ve enjoyed the past year, and for the pain the last year brought. Pick one pain or obstacle you endured in 2016, and ask Him to work through it in your life.

Scripture (5 minutes): Read the passage below. Take your time. What is the phrase that resonates with you the most?

John 1:6-13 (ESV)
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become Children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Meditation (5 minutes): Meditate on the line below. Repeat it 3x out loud.

ALL who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave THE RIGHT to become Children of God.

When Jesus came – the world didn’t receive him. They rejected him. Even his own city and people did not believe in him.

But, he didn’t care.

He gladly came to a hostile world to bring YOU life. So, whatever negative thoughts you’re thinking, or self-doubt you hold — realize this: Jesus came to give you the right to be his child. Not the privilege, the right. We often talk about what is and isn’t a right in our society. Right to life, Right to bear arms, Right to speech, etc.

One thing that can’t be taken from the believer: the right we have to be in Jesus’ family. To be called sons and daughters. He chose for your life to matter. What other encouragement or inspiration could you need? God chose for you to exist right now and to live out his love in the world today. GO and do.

Have a great Monday! See you tomorrow!
