Daily Practice:

Prayer (5 minutes):

  • Thank God for giving us His Word, and pray that your heart will be open to His teaching
  • Ask God to point out areas in your life where you’ve chosen to follow the world instead of Him
  • Humble yourself before Him. Give Him control of your day and weekend ahead.

Scripture (5 minutes): John 3:31-36 (ESV)

He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. He who comes from heaven is above all. He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony.

Whoever receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true. For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.

The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

Meditation (5 minutes): Meditate on the line below. Repeat it 3x out loud.

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.

It can be so easy to get caught up in the hype. It can be easy to start falling into a groove of “normalcy” with all of the talking, shouting, preaching, and debating happening around us all the time.

Sometimes, it feels good to listen to the common voice. It feels normal and comfortable to follow the same trend that everyone around us in the world is following.

Jesus brought us something different, however. He was so different that it was clear he was from heaven, yet people still rejected Him. He was so obviously not from this world. His voice was stood apart.

Those who receive His message and believe in His sacrifice are given eternal life. Those who reject Him, and follow the flow do not.

It’s a simple but difficult truth for us to accept for whatever reason. Let’s meditate deeply on this question today : Are you following Him? Or are you following the world?

Blessings!
