Daily Practice:

Prayer (5 minutes):

  • Praise God for bringing you through the work week.
  • Ask Him to reveal areas of darkness or selfishness in your heart.
  • Yield yourself to the Spirit’s work, and to any movement He would instigate in your heart.

Scripture (5 minutes): John 7:1-24

Meditation (5 minutes): Meditate on the phrase below. Repeat it 3x out loud.

The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

Jesus’ mission was so ablaze in His heart that He could not wait to pursue the people God had sent Him to pursue. He knew the people who needed Him and who were hungry for the Gospel would be attending the festival so he went. He acted against common sense and His original plan to stay away.

His mission and motives were questioned. His character was marred in conversation. His qualifications were regularly questioned and criticized.

Yet, Jesus moved forward.

He pursued the mission and the calling His father had sent Him to accomplish, and He ignored the crowd’s skepticism and hate. The people thought He was crazy, or that perhaps He had a demon.

Jesus moved forward.

The trust and innate faith He demonstrated to put His very life at risk for the people who had such little faith is beautiful and inspiring. His mission was above His safety. His trust in the Father removed any doubt from His mind. Jesus moved forward.

Praying big prayers and asking God to work in our lives this Friday. Hope you all have a great weekend!
