M2 : Day One

NOTE: Our first month of meditations was really focused on honing in on the habit of daily prayer and meditation with some thought or application for the day. We’ll continue to follow our habit in month 2, but will see more prayer and meditation on actual Scripture passages throughout. Hope you’re enjoying and please reach out with anything you need!

Daily Practice:

Silence (5 minutes):

    • Set a timer on your phone for 5 minutes of silence.
    • Don’t pray anything specifically, but just sit with the Spirit and welcome Him into your heart and your day.
    • At the end of the 5 minutes, pray through the passage below:

I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. Truly I say to you, If anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.

Scripture (5 minutes): John 8:39-59

Prayer & Meditation (5 minutes): Meditate on the phrase below. Repeat it 2x out loud.

  • Notice how Jesus responds to the haters in His life who try to tear Him down & call Him names or question His legitimacy (v.42 & 50). He has a humility and love of Scripture that He wields to continually re-direct the conversation and glory to God. Pray for this humility in your life.
  • Claim the promise Jesus announces in verse 51 as your own. Thank the Father for giving us the confidence and love of His salvation.
  • Ask Jesus to meet with you, and to continue to let you know Him more like He knows the Father in v. 55. Trust Him to continue nurturing your soul throughout this year.
  • Thank God for another day to serve Him, and submit your actions/desires/responsibilities to His power this morning.
Have a GREAT Wednesday! Do me a favor, and let me know what you think of this format. Obviously pretty different. BM is only as good as it is helpful in helping us collectively understand and apply scripture to our lives and in our relationship with Jesus.

    Love you all!
